If the importer can make money, you can make more!

The local seller or the importer must add all the charges

to his cost plus his profits otherwise he will close the

doors. He has to pass on to his buyers all shipping

charges, taxes, duties, storage overheads, insurance

charges, wages for the workers, local delivery charge

to your location and etc. When goods are taxable,

every one must pay.

If he could make money, you also can.

Why should I import?

In order for your business to be able to compete on price

with your competitors, you may wish to consider

importing direct through Chinese Department Store.

Am I protected if something goes wrong?

Your protection is guaranteed. We are Australians operating

Chinese Department Store in China. If any, our wilful, strong Chinese partners and staff protect all contractual disputes legally in the court of law within this country. Thankfully we have not had any problems since we started our operations in China.

Technical communication with us is not a problem at all. Our staff speaks near fluent English. You could always come on our chat line and speak to us or make a phone call to our office. Please click on About Us link at the bottom of this page.

Will the goods arrive home safely?

It is important that you get the quality you paid for to

arrive safely. Chinese Department Store is not a

pre-seller. We purchase before we sell. Because

it is our own investment, we also make sure that

what we pay for is what we must receive from our

suppliers. Imagine if you deal directly with the

manufacturers that you never dealt before and you

receive faulty goods. You will not only have to wait a long time but also have to pay the shipping costs three times. Let us do the quality control for you and avoid unexpected expenses.

Do I have to pay Duty or Taxes?

Import duty is one of the ways that governments gain

revenues. If you visit your country's Customs website,

you shall find a list in which all products are duty

classified. You may also wish to call their office and

speak to an officer for guidelines. Import, if others can

do, you can do it too.

At first, it may seem a bit difficult, but if you spend an hour

or so, you will find your way around and learn how to search for codes that are used to fill in the forms. The next time you import the same products, just copy and paste the codes. Many governments understand that people may carry goods into the country when they go overseas during their holidays and or receive gifts from relatives or purchase over the internet, therefore, they set a limit per person. You could also check the amount of this limit by making a phone call or through your online search.

For example, Australia and New Zealand set an amount under 1000 dollars for products entering into the country duty free. But it may also be subject to some conditions. When the purpose is for personal use or the items are not in multiples which could be classified for resell. Please contact your customs office information desk.

?When the shipping method is door to door, and then if it is considered as a taxable item, then the tax is collected at the local post office. There is no need for you to travel to the customs office to make payments.

When the goods are FOB, meaning from our door to the nearest port to you, then you must either assign a customs broker to release the goods or if you have time, you could do an online entry or travel to the customs house and do the paperwork.

The staffs are very helpful and the guidelines are made available for any one to use to be able to easily do the work.

How to get the goods into the country?

There are many ways. If it is uneconomical to send by air, then we could send the parcel to the nearest port to you by sea freight.

It would take a bit of time but this is the lowest priced method in order to be competitive with your prices.

We pack the goods and call the shipping company to collect from our warehouse. They carry by truck to their warehouse and then with a larger truck carry to the ducks and load onto the cargo ship.

There may be a delay if there are not many ships coming towards your country.

All goods are carried by forklifts and on pallets. When the goods arrive at its destination, they are sorted and the shipping agent shall notify the buyers the location and other necessary information. They also offer their customs brokers services along with their local carriers to get the goods to your warehouse.

How long will it take to be transported?

Cargo ships normally take about a month from China to reach most ports on the globe. There may be delays if there are port workers strikes and or unexpected climatic conditions.

What are the legal requirements?

All countries protect the local manufacturers, so they control the number of such products entering into the country. This is called ¡°quota¡±.

Please check with the customs. There are other legal requirements such as quarantine which needs to be considered. For example, if the products are packaged in wooden boxes ?or crates containing bark entering into Australia and or are made of natural materials that may carry diseases or insects into the country, these have to be going through a process of fumigation.

Chinese Department Store makes sure that your products are packaged in or cartons with styrene foam, bubble wrapped and or in treated wooden boxes made from plywood.

Who will arrange the local transport?

The shipping company staff can arrange the local transport for you at your cost as it is their day to day operation to arrange the goods to move out of the port warehouse for the incoming cargos. You may wish to collect personally. Please consider the volume of the cargo and the vehicle before to leave your warehouse.

Where should I collect the goods?

The approximate time and location of the dock when the cargo ship arriving at the destination port, the name and address of the agent to contact is written in the Bill of Lading or the documents that we shall send to you after dispatch.

The exact time of the ship docking at the port is announced in the local port gazette and or newspapers. You could make a phone call to the shipping company to inquire.

Are the goods insured against damage in transit?

Our prices include insurance. If damage occurs, we are not to be held responsible. We will have to apply for insurance compensation on your behalf. The shipping company will require proof of damage. This official report must be prepared by the port authorities while goods are being collected. Photographs alone are not accepted as a proof. Full or part payment may be granted according to the extent of damage.

It may take time for compensation process to complete. We will have no power to speed the process once the application is handed over.

Who are Custom Brokers?

Custom brokers are trained personnel working independently or for the customs.

They can do all the paper work and release the goods from the customs. They may charge on hourly rates depending on the content of the cargo. The more variety, the more it takes time for them to prepare and complete the forms.

They are very fast as it is their job.

Am I allowed to import into the country?

Anyone is allowed to import goods into the country. Importers may need to acquire permission to import certain products. Products such as alcoholic drinks, medicine and food are among many products that need a license.

Can I import goods into the country without a business registration or a certificate?

Yes you could import goods for your own personal use or for resell. When there are multiple of items, and you don¡¯t have a business registration, the taxes are imposed upfront. General sales tax or VAT is collected at the point of entry and when the goods are sold, the charges are passed on to the buyer.
